Tom Eubank sent me this photo of an Inca Dove killed during last years dove season. It’s a beautiful bird that we do not normally see.

After a slow start and a little bad luck Mickey and I started to catch some bass at the Catfish Chute Sunday afternoon. Mickey caught the FOD, a beautiful 6 pound 2 ounce bass.
We ended up with 14, most on a spinnerbait.

Mickey and I went to Lake Guntersville Tuesday and fished that afternoon, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning. The “rat bite” was supposedly on, but instead of using a rat most people use frogs or worms fished around the plentiful vegetation in the lake. The weather was bluebird skies and a North wind with lows in the high 40s, not particularly conducive to a feeding frenzy. The first afternoon we caught 11 in Browns Creek, all on Ribbits, with the FOD a 5-1, shown in the first picture. All the bass we caught were fat and in great shape with a beautiful dark green color, due to the clear water. Wednesday we went 25 miles down the lake and put in at another spot, the goose pond. We saw a commotion and thought the fish were schooling and rushed over to the spot. We found a bass thrashing around trying to get a large bream out of his mouth that had its head in the basses’ gills and its fins in the top of the basses’ mouth. I had trouble getting the bream out but when I did the bass swam off in good shape. The second picture shows the bass before the extraction.
We went on to catch 9, the FOD being a 3-10. Thursday we returned to the goose pond and had a tough time getting any action until about 11, when I caught an 8 1/4 on a Ribbit. Fish in third photo
and Ribbit in the fourth.
We got disgusted after the bite ceased and returned to our Tuesday afternoon spot where Mickey proceeded to catch a 5 1/4 not over 100 yards from where I caught the 5-1 Tuesday afternoon. Fifth picture.
Friday morning we returned to Browns creek, caught a couple, and left for home. We probably missed well over half of the bites we got on the Ribbit, frustrating, but we had a great time.
