Back to Wolf Lake

Monday, August 03rd, 2009 | Author:

Wolf  Lake called me again today mainly because the river is rising and the river lakes will be tough.  I caught 64, About half of which were 1 to 2 3/4 pounds and the other half were dinks. Caught most on a DT-10. Some were on a DT-6 and a worm. The fish were in the same old spots but not in the numbers they were in before. The fish were slow to bite early but things picked up about 10:30. From then until 2 the bite was on.  I saw a pair of black bellied whistling ducks today. They have a shape like a goose and they light in trees. No pictures today for there was nothing worthyexcept the ducks and they were not close enough.

Nothing to do with fishing

Saturday, August 01st, 2009 | Author:

This has nothing to do with fishing but is neat and pretty. I saw this moth under the night light at Catfish. It had its wings closed and all you could see was the yellow outside of the top pair of wings. As I approached and barely touched its abdomen, it slowly raised its top wings to show its “eyes”.  It is a defense mechanism, to make it look like an owl or something of the sort to a hungry bird.080120097001
