Windstorm

Saturday, October 20th, 2012 | Author:

Wednesday night we had a tremendous windstorm in our area of Greenville. It was a straight line wind that blew down a lot of trees in our neighborhood, some large white oaks were over 200 years old. Some trees fell on peoples houses and did a tremendous amount of damage, but thankfully, no one was hurt.  My boat was in the garage so my truck took the direct hit. Not too much damage to our house thank goodness.

It was the first time since I have lived here that I have felt the house moving during a windstorm. Tremendous wind. The view from the garage.

     and toward the garage

There were widow makers everywhere.

Heavy equipment was at my house all day. I’ll probably have to mortgage my boat to pay the cleanup bill. In the last photo note the elm tree trunk that appears just over the man on the right’s head. It was so heavy it had the crane bouncing. It was on its way to be placed in the truck they are standing by. This photo is of the pile of debris on the street that came from my yard, and this is after some had been hauled off.

Our lights came on last night which is amazing considering the damage to the lines. Our freezers had just about reached their limit before things completely defrosted. I have fishing on my mind but have no idea when I’ll get to go.
