Back to Ferguson

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009 | Author:

Lake Ferguson was 21.1 feet this morning when I hit the lake around 7 am.  I managed to catch 7, most in the same places that were not productive Monday. Most were caught on a DT-6. The fish were better too, with most between2 and 3 with a 3 -8 FOD.  I tried out a swimbait that I designed and made. It swam straight and would swim at low speeds but it did not put out the “thump” vibrations that I wanted.  I’m going to make a few more and try them in some clear water situations before I ditch the mold. In the mean time, I’m going to purchase a mold.

Sat. Aug. 22, stopped at Citgo S. of 454 head to Chute at 5:30 A.M. Place was lit up like a Christmas tree with all the metal flake bass boats. Counted 5 gasing up. All headed North upon leaving, I assume to Ferguson. I bet you could not stir them with a stick today. Glad the Chute was cut off from the river today. Had the Grandson this weekend and stopped at 8:00 and headed in to see what he was up to. Had 15 crappie and as many bass by then. Early bite very good.

I wish all those tournament guys would go back where they came from now that the water is out of the trees in Ferguson. When the water is out of the trees and the fish have nowhere to hide they can hurt the fishing in our lake.
