Take a number and get in line

Upon getting to “my spot” as Taff calls it, I was greeted by it already being occupied, along with two or three more before the day was over.  There were a lot of bass fishermen on the lake this morning, but to me, the fish were not very active early. Caught the first one on “my spot” at 9:35. From then to 11:30 I caught 9, not counting the SFOD shown in the first photo.  That tiny bass was going to eat the DT-6.  I never cease to be be amazed at how pugnacous a bass can be.  I caught most on a worm but caught the best ones ( they would have weighed 3 if they had eaten just a few more shad) with a DT-6 on the spot in the second photo.  They were schooled up. When I would catch one, another would follow it to the boat.  A bare sandy bank. I love bare sand when the lake is falling. Finally, is a photo of the second modification of the paddletail worm. I think I’m going to melt down the first model and make them the second.

Yea, your spot is a community hole. Been good lately. I have to work at some point saturday, but may try to go b/f work if we dont have a lot of admissions scheduled. May work late friday if it will cut down on my load for saturday. That is if it does not storm.

Did you see all of the surface fish? Carp or buffalo? was noy sure if they were asian/silver carp b/c they never jumped. What ever they are, they are ALL OVER THE LAKE!!!!. If they are asian carp, it could get dangerous!

This spot looks a lot like a spot Richard Griffin and I used to fish on a regular basis. When the upper lake gets cut off, we used to walk in from Archer as Richard was a member. I could tell you some stories about that hole. It actually gets better for Big fish when it gets cut off.

John, that spot is on the South end not in the upper lake.

Taff, They are Asian carp. Just not as spooky in clear deep water. The bowfishermen on the fishing forum seemed to get fired up. I hope they come and shoot them all.

They better bring a bunch of gear! I always thought there was large gar population. the carp were in every spot I stopped Wednesday. I have only had them jump near me once in fergy, and they were about 20 # tanks in the meadow last spring. I got smacked in the head by one going under the causeway in chicot this year, ~7-8#er. They stink really bad, I could smell it on my hat the rest of the day.
